Client
Aberdeen Standard
A 374 Bed Student Accommodation in the heart of Oxford. After a fire compartment survey conducted by Evolutions we were able to completely overhaul the property and rectify all compartmentation.
The findings from our report revealed a significant number of defects throughout the five blocks present onsite. Thankfully Aberdeen Standards were quick to action the remedials from the findings of the report to protect the lives of those who reside within in the unfortunate event of a fire. Every Fire Wall & Ceiling throughout the entire project was inspected, rectified and restored to a fire resisting standard proven by tested and traceable materials.
Some of the significant defects were the following;
- Missing Closer devices to all Plastic Pipes
- Inadequate Fire Stopping to Communal Corridors, Toilet Risers, Electrical Intakes, Student Rooms
- Incomplete Corridor Partitions
How we Completed
Working closely with the managing body CRM Students Evolutions devised a phased, floor by floor approach to each block. Ensuring all risers where completed before moving onto the next floor. By doing it in this method Evolutions removed wasted trips and consolidated noise and disturbance to a select time window.
The Goal
To rectify all corridors, risers with defective compartmentation. In doing so would allow the building to operate as per its fire strategy and provide the nessecary time to escape & for fire services to operate.
Final Results
The entire site was completed in a period of 6 weeks, the works commenced at the start of the 6 week school holiday. Thus allowing minimal disruption to the university students who remained and not impacting on the buildings operation.
